An “active terrorist” of Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) with suspected ties to Pakistan’s ISI was taken into custody early Thursday morning in a combined operation by the Punjab Police and Uttar Pradesh STF. The alleged terrorist, who lives in Kurlian village in the Ramdas neighborhood of Amritsar, was taken into custody at about 3.20 am in the Uttar Pradesh district of Kaushambi, according to an official.

Lajar Masih, the accused terrorist, is in close communication with ISI agents, according to Additional Director General of Police (UP Special Task Force, Law and Order) Amitabh Yash, who was giving information.

“As per available information, the arrested terrorist works for Swarn Singh alias Jeevan Fauji, the head of the Germany-based module of Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) and is in direct touch with Pakistan-based ISI operatives,” Yash was said to have said by PTI.

Along with successfully recovering some explosive material and illegal weapons from the terrorist, the officer said the UP STF also retrieved some suspicious stuff from the scene. He gave specifics, stating that the UP STF had confiscated 13 foreign-made cartridges, one foreign-made handgun, two live detonators, and three active hand grenades.

According to the official, the terrorist was also found in possession of a white explosive substance, an Aadhaar card with a Ghaziabad address, and a cell phone without a SIM card.

The officer said that the terrorist had gotten out of jail custody the previous year. He continued by saying that the UP STF joined the Punjab police after learning that the terrorist was living in Uttar Pradesh and that the Punjab police had been looking for the terrorist ever since. “This terrorist had escaped from judicial custody in Punjab on September 24, 2024,” said the ADG.

In recent months, the Punjab police have carried out a number of raids targeting those connected to Babbar Khalsa International (BKI).
