New Delhi: India has become a hub of startups ever since Prime Minister Narendra Modi took charge. The government has launched a slew of programs to encourage youths to start their own businesses. Many young people have left their well-paid jobs to start their own startup. Harsh Pokharna an IIT Kanpur graduate and co-founder of Bengaluru-based OkCredit recently shared his ten-year business journey on Instagram.
Pokharna always wanted to make quick money hence he left his jobs at Flipkart. He had seen many startup founders receiving huge funding which inspired him. However the initial years were completely different from what he had imagined. He worked on three different business ideas but none of them succeeded. This worsened his financial situation. After exhausting his savings he started freelancing to cover his expenses. At the same time he continued working on new business ideas.
Failed for Two Years
Pokharna after two failed efforts started OkCredit a digital ledger platform for small businesses. Pokharnas journey teaches an important lesson – success in the startup world does not come overnight. He emphasized that building a business is a long process not a shortcut to getting rich quickly. Entrepreneurs should be driven not just by the lure of making money but by the desire to solve problems.
His story inspired many new entrepreneurs. Many people connected with his experiences. Some admired his patience while others shared their struggles with mentorship and funding. Everyone agreed that a startup requires a good plan hard work and most importantly patience.
