March 7, New Delhi As artificial intelligence (AI) permeates every aspect of our lives, the government has started a number of important projects under the IndiaAI Mission, which represents a significant turning point in India’s development of morally and responsibly developed technology.
Aiming to enhance AI-driven research, innovation, and skill development, the initiatives include AIKosha: IndiaAI Datasets Platform, the AI Compute Portal, the AI Competency Framework for Public Sector Officials, iGOT-AI Mission Karmayogi, the IndiaAI Startups Global Acceleration Program with Station F, the IndiaAI Application Development Initiative, and IndiaAI FutureSkills.
In order to benefit startups, academics, and businesses, the AI Compute Portal will initially make 10,000 GPUs available, with 8,693 more to be added. AI compute services will be offered at a heavily discounted cost.
India’s DPI framework for AI reduces dependency on artificial intelligence and foreign data by guaranteeing consent-based, ethically generated datasets. With more than 80 models and 300 datasets, AIKosha promotes the creation of impartial and varied AI solutions.
To facilitate AI creation, AIKosha is a secure platform that offers a collection of datasets, models, and use cases. Through an integrated development environment, tools, and tutorials, it also offers AI sandbox capabilities.
Features like content discoverability, AI ready scoring of datasets, permission-based access, and security features like data encryption in motion and at rest, a secure API, and firewalls for real-time harmful traffic filtering are all included in the platform.
The IndiaAI Compute Portal would provide startups, MSMEs, academics, researchers, PhD scholars, students, entrepreneurs, and government agencies with subsidized prices for AI compute, network, storage, platform, and cloud services.
In order to provide affordable AI development capabilities and innovation, the portal will make it simple to access high-end and mid-range GPUs like NVIDIA H100, H200, A100, L40S, and L4, AMD MI300x and 325X, Intel Gaudi 2, AWS Tranium, and Inferentia, as well as network and storage services.
Cloud-based AI computing services will be subsidized by up to 40% for qualified AI customers.
The AI Competency Framework was established in recognition of the crucial role AI plays in governance. Its goal is to provide public sector personnel with the necessary skills for upskilling programs and AI competency mapping. This framework guarantees informed AI policy-making and implementation by conforming to international best practices.
To improve government officials’ iGOT Karmayogi platform learning experience, iGOT-AI is an AI-powered personalized learning tool.
The IndiaAI Mission will begin an acceleration program for Indian AI businesses in partnership with STATION F and HEC Paris. Ten chosen AI businesses will get access to mentoring, networking, and global market growth prospects in Europe during this four-month immersion program—one month online and three months on-site at STATION F in Paris—at the biggest startup campus in the world.
The IndiaAI innovation challenge was also started by IndiaAI with the goal of advancing significant AI solutions in important fields.
More than 900 artificial intelligence (AI) solutions have been presented to solve urgent issues in governance, agriculture, learning disabilities, healthcare, climate change, and disaster management.
In order to provide basic level training, IndiaAI Data Labs are also being developed in tier 2 and tier 3 locations around India.
