Puducherry : Puducherry Chief Minister N Rangasami has recently presented the budget of his state. N Rangasani has presented a tax free budget of Rs 13,600 crore for FY 2025-26 in the state assembly here on Wednesday.
N Rangasani has said that due to deep cooperation and mixed cooperation between the Center and the Union Territory, my government has been implementing many progressive welfare schemes in the last 4 years, especially in education and health sectors.
According to the Chief Minister, its revenue receipts of the Union Territory have been estimated at Rs 7,641.40 crore. The central assistance including the State Disaster Relief Fund has been estimated at Rs 3,432.18 crore. The Central Road Fund is Rs 25 crore and the allocation under the centrally sponsored scheme has been estimated at Rs 400 crore.
The central government has given its approval for the net lending limit i.e. NBC, including a loan fixed with a negotiation of up to Rs 2,101.42 crore to bridge the difference between fiscal loss. He has said that out of the budget estimate of Rs 13,600 crore, Rs 11,624.72 crore has been allocated for revenue expenses and Rs 1,975.28 crore for capital expenditure.
In the proposed budget for FY 2025-26, the percentage of capital expenditure relative to the total expenditure has been notable about 10 times to 9.80 percent, compared to only 1.66 percent in the year 2021-22. Expressing gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his continuous cooperation, the Chief Minister said that this is his fifth consecutive budget in the current 15th assembly.

He has also announced an allocation of Rs 2,760 crore for special budget components in the current financial year i.e. 2024-25, including Rs 1,458 crore for sex budget, Rs 613 crore for youth initiative and Rs 689 crore for green projects. He has said that a large part of our financial resources goes into committed expenses like salary, pension, loan payment and interest payment.
