A college student from the Banaskantha district of Gujarat was blackmailed through her nude videos by 7 men who allegedly raped her several times over a period of 16 months. Police said that one of the 6 accused befriended a 20-year-old girl on Instagram when she started attending a college in Palanpur in 2023. According to the FIR, in November 2023, he persuaded her to accompany him to a hotel for breakfast, police said.

According to the FIR, the accused deliberately spilled food on the girl's clothes and took her to a room on the pretext of cleaning. The police said that when the girl was cleaning her clothes in the bathroom, the accused named Vishal Chaudhary entered and videotaped her. In the FIR registered on Monday, it is said that when the girl objected, he threatened to make the video public and post it on Instagram.

The FIR further stated that using the same video clip, he forced the student to have sexual relations with her and her friends at different places between November 2023 and February 2025. After the girl contacted the Palanpur taluka police, a case was registered against six identified persons and one unidentified person under the sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) relating to rape and criminal intimidation.

The police said that a case has also been registered against the accused under section 67 of the Information Technology Act related to the publication or transmission of obscene material in electronic form. An officer of Palanpur taluka police station said that efforts are being made to nab the rest of the accused.
