The legendary recently played a key role as India lifted the Champions Trophy after 12 years. He is set to represent Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) for the 18th consecutive season during the Indian Premier League (IPL 2025).
Kohli retired from T20I cricket after helping India win the T20 World Cup last year in June. However, the Delhi batter recently spoke about a scenario which could see him returning to the shortest format for just one match.
The 2028 Olympics is set to be held at Los Angeles in the United States of America. Cricket is set to return to the event after 128 years. The former India captain said that he could step out of retirement if the Men in Blue reach the finals of the quadrennial event as he would love to add an Olympic medal to his already-impressive trophy cabinet.
"If India reaches the Olympics final in 2028, might just think of coming out of retirement for that one match. Winning an Olympic medal would be magnificent," Kohli said on the sidelines of Innovation Lab Indian Sports summit.
The 36-year-old continues to be one of the fittest cricketers in the world. However, when he burst onto the scene, Kohli wasn't among the most athletic players going around in Indian cricket. Speaking on what inspired him to embark on this fitness journey, Kohli said the change came after he realised that better fitness could help him achieve greater success on the field. However, the right-handed batter had to make his mother understand that his training methods were not making him sick.
"My transformations came after a few tough tours when I saw the guys lasting on the field longer than us. From the team point of view things were not tough but convincing my mum was tough. She thought I was looking sick. I told her that the world is talking about my training methods and I am not sick. I felt that I was able to do things much better," he added.

Kohli will be playing under Rajat Patidar's leadership in IPL 2025. The former was retained by the franchise for INR 21 crore at the IPL 2025 mega auction. After helping his team win the Champions Trophy earlier this month, Kohli would want to lift an elusive first IPL title with the Bengaluru-based franchise.
