Iconic legendary late singer Lata Mangeshkar also called the Queen of Melody passed away in 2022. She was 92 when she took her last breath. After her demise she left a void among people. She was one of the most loved playback singers in the world and during her career span she gave numerous hit songs. Not only that but she also sang in six Indian languages.
Born in Indore Madhya Pradesh to Pandit Deenanath Mangeshkar a renowned classical singer and theater artist and Shevanti Lata had four siblings. The family of musicians included Meena Asha Usha and Hridaynath. All four of them are known musicians in the world. Latas interest in music was evident because of her father and she started her journey at the age of five.
Over the years Lata practiced and worked hard to make a name for herself. However in 1962 her health became critically ill. She suffered from stomach issues and frequent vomiting. After doctors consulted and conducted further investigations it was revealed that Lata had been poisoned slowly. Her health situation became grim and she fought for her life for almost three months.
The harrowing incident left her physically weak and she had to remain bedridden for days. Later when a family member raised concerns and asked the servants to stop cooking food one of Latas servants disappeared without taking his wages which raised suspicion against that person.
During this tough time Latas close friend and late Bollywood lyricist Majrooh Sultanpuri would often visit and taste her food to ensure her safety.
The harrowing incident was revealed by Lata herself in her book Lata Mangeshkar in Her Own Voice.
After this incident Lata Mangeshkar did recover and made a comeback to singing. She clarified that she did not lose her voice.
Meanwhile the first song that Mangeshkar sang after her recovery was Kahin Deep Jale Kahin Dil from Bees Saal Baad composed by Hemant Kumar.
