Manchester United transfer news latest: European giant set to ‘bid’ for winger in summer transfer window

Manchester United are reportedly set to receive an offer from a European giant for one of their wingers, with the club desperately needing to raise funds.

Bayern Munich have reportedly decided bid for Manchester United winger Antonywho is currently on loan at Spanish side Real Betis.

The Red Devils emerged as 3-0 winners against Leicester City on Sunday evening, extending their unbeaten streak in all competitions to four games.

Despite the victory, United ended the weekend in 13th place with just 37 points and it looks like they will finish the campaign in the bottom half of the table.

One of the reasons for their struggles this season has been their performances in the final third, with their return of 37 goals making them the top flight’s seventh worst offensive team.

Boss Ruben amorim sanctioned the departure of winger Antony to Real Betis on loan in January, and Signings claim that Bayern Munich are set to make a push to sign the Brazilian in the summer.

Should United sell Antony?

While on loan at Real Betis, Antony has scored four goals and provided four assists in just 11 games, whereas he had only scored one goal in 14 matches for United this term.

The winger has in fact only found the back of the net five times in the Premier League since arriving in the summer transfer window of 2022-23.

Though United have found goals difficult to come by in 2024-25, there is no reason to suggest that the Brazilian would be able to come back from his loan spell and provide the firepower that the team currently lacks.

Additionally, the Red Devils are reportedly struggling financially and Antony’s sale could help to alleviate some of the problems the club are facing.

What does the future of United’s attack look like?

Rasmus Hojlund scored against Leicester, finding the back of the net for the first time in 22 games, while Alejandro Garnacho netted just his third league goal of the season.

Garnacho has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford, but selling the 20 year old before Amorim has had the chance to get the best out of him could be risky, especially if the Argentine signed for a rival such as Chelsea.

Marcus Rashford is expected to leave the Red Devils in the summer transfer window, with Aston Villa having a £40m buy option on the forward.

Unless United are able to raise significant funds, there is a chance that Amorim will have to make do with several of the players already at his disposal in 2025-26.
