Tata Groups hotel company has a collection of exclusive heritage palace hotels. Now it is set to transform another 100-year-old palace into a hotel. This palace is Tripuras Pushpabanta Palace. The state government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Tata Groups Indian Hotels Company Private Limited (IHCL) for this project. To convert this palace into a 5-star luxury hotel Tata Group will invest approximately Rs 250 crore. The project is expected to take about three years to complete. Taj Group Luxurious Hotels Taj Group has transformed several royal palaces across the country into hotels. From Rajasthan to Madhya Pradesh and Telangana the list is extensive. Tajs Palace Hotels The most famous palace hotel under the Taj brand is Udaipurs Taj Lake Palace. Situated on an island in the middle of Udaipurs Pichola Lake it is renowned for its beauty. Lake Palace Hotel The Taj Group has also converted Jaipurs royal residences including Rambagh Palace Jal Mahal Palace and Sawai Man Mahal Palace into luxury hotels. Jaipurs Royal Heritage One of the countrys most modern palaces Jodhpurs Umaid Bhawan Palace is also operated by the Taj Group. This venue has hosted numerous celebrity weddings. Umaid Bhawan: A Taj Property Domestic and international tourists frequent these hotels to experience royal grandeur. The Taj Group has extensive experience in successfully managing these heritage properties. Tripura Govt On Taj Group Investment Chief Minister Manik Saha said The government has been in consultation with the IHCL a Taj group-owned entity to set up a world-class five-star hotel at the Pushpabanta Palace.  This is indeed a historic day for the state as the pact was signed on the auspicious occasion of the Holi the festival of colours” he said. Rabindranath Tagore Connection Built by Maharaja Birendra Kishore Manikya Bahadur in 1917 Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore stayed at the Pushpabanta Palace and celebrated his birthday during a programme in May 1941. On the opposition of Tipra Motha Party (TMP) an ally of the BJP-led coalition government on turning the royal property into a five-star hotel Saha said a problem is bound to erupt when any good work is initiated but ultimately it has been solved. We have meetings with them (Tipra Motha Party) on the issue and they have agreed to the project leading to the signing of the MoU he said. (With Inputs From PTI)
