Actress and model Iffat Omar responded to Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s decision to relieve Medical Superintendent (MS) of Lahore’s Mayo Hospital.

She opined about her X (ex-Twitter) account about CM Maryam Nawaz’s action to oust the MS upon patient grievances.

Iffat Omar shared Maryam Nawaz’s visit viral video to Mayo Hospital and said in her X post:

“In my view, publicly shaming an officer in this way is not proper. It is not proper to sack someone on live television without letting them have their say and having a proper probe.”

During CM Punjab’s visit to Mayo Hospital on March 6, patients lodged many complaints.

Maryam Nawaz got highly agitated on these complaints and strictly warned the hospital management, directing immediate removal of MS from his position.

Subsequently, a few media outlets revealed that the MS of Mayo Hospital, Dr. Faisal, who was taken to task by CM Punjab, had resigned three days prior to his removal.

As per media reports, Dr. Faisal had also made repeated demands for money from the Punjab government, and after not receiving any, he had even submitted his resignation three days ago.

Earlier, Authorities in Punjab’s healthcare sector have taken disciplinary steps against three nurses from Mayo Hospital’s Chest Ward following reports of severe patient reactions to administered injections.

The Specialised Healthcare and Medical Education Department has issued show-cause notices, summoning the nurses for an explanation regarding the incident.

The accused staff members—Nazia Hassan, Sunaina Khalid, and Hafiza Saima Sahar—have been cited for alleged negligence in preparing the medication.

According to official reports, 16 patients experienced complications after receiving the injections. The department has demanded a written response from the nurses within a week.
