BPL ration card holders are given priority in many government schemes. Ration cards are also available in these colors

Ration cards are not only yellow in color, but they are made available in different colors to people of different economic classes. For example, pink ration cards are given to those who are slightly above the poverty line, although these people need government help. Grains are available at normal prices on this ration card. There is also a discount in Ujjwala Yojana and Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. Apart from this, blue ration cards are given to those who are economically weak but do not come on the BPL list. White ration cards are made available to economically capable families. These people do not depend on government rations for their livelihood. For such people, white ration cards serve as identity and address proof.
