When it comes to weekends, Prince William and Kate Middleton ’s routine is surprisingly relatable—juggling sports events, cheering on their kids, and making time for family.

During a visit to the Wales vs. England Six Nations match on March 15, Prince William offered a rare glimpse into how the Prince and Princess of Wales spend their Saturdays and Sundays with Prince George , Princess Charlotte , and Prince Louis .

"At weekends, we go from one competition to the next," William shared while speaking to athletes supported by the Welsh Rugby Charitable Trust, according to Hello! Magazine. The couple, spent time with injured rugby players and their families before the big match kicked off.

With three young children, weekends in the Cambridge household are filled with sports—and their youngest son, Prince Louis, is already getting involved.

"Louis is six, and he's just started touch rugby," Kate revealed. "George is 11 and plays a bit more. They do really enjoy it. They've been exposed to lots of different sports."

Both Kate and William have long been active in the sports world, so it’s no surprise their children are following in their footsteps. William’s comment about their jam-packed weekends even reflects Kate’s own childhood. Her brother, James Middleton, recalled in a 2024 Telegraph column that he often spent weekends watching Kate and their sister Pippa play sports while he walked the headmaster’s wife’s sheepdog.

Despite their royal status, William and Kate have been intentional about giving their children a grounded upbringing.

A palace insider told PEOPLE in 2023 that William deeply appreciates the sense of normalcy Kate brings to their home life. "Those children look pretty happy with life. A lot of it is the stabilizing normality Kate brings—that's how she grew up, and William absolutely loves it," the source shared.

This commitment to balance is evident in how they structure their family time. Unlike William, who attended boarding school, George, Charlotte, and Louis attend day school. The couple also reduces their royal duties during school holidays and spends weekends together as a family.

Kate has spoken before about her children’s growing enthusiasm for rugby. At a Welsh Rugby Charitable Trust event in 2023, she mentioned that George had moved from tag rugby to touch rugby, noting that his tall height was an advantage.

"They are trying to teach him the rules," she said at the time. "They move them around for their confidence. Because he is tall, he has the physique." She also hinted that Louis was next in line to get into the sport, adding, "Charlotte also does rugby."
