Here we will talk about an Indian origin man Neal Mohan an American businessman who has been serving as the chief executive officer (CEO) of the social media and online video sharing platform YouTube since 16 February 2023.
With Neal Mohan at the helm YouTube has made big gains and grown significantly. The YouTube television in particular stands out.
Neal Mohan was born on July 14 1973 in Lafayette Indiana and spent most of his childhood growing up in the United States before moving to India with his family in 1985.
He moved back to the USA in 1992 and attended Stanford University from where he majored in electrical engineering and graduated in 1996. He started his career in 1996 at Accenture and soon joined a startup called NetGravity. In 2002 NetGravity was acquired by DoubleClick a major internet advertising company. He took a study leave and pursued MBA from Stanford University in 2003-2005.
After that he rejoined DoubleClick which was later acquired by Google in 2007. From here his long association with Google started. At Google Mohan worked closely with Susan Wojcicki the former CEO of YouTube and led the company’s Display and Video Ads division. In 2011 Twitter (now X) tried to recruit him as its Chief Product Officer but Google offered him USD 100 million to stay as reported by MoneyControl.
In 2015 Neal Mohan became YouTube’s Chief Product Officer where he led major projects like:

YouTube Music (music streaming platform)
YouTube Kids (child-friendly content platform)
YouTube TV (live TV service)
YouTube Shorts (short-video feature)
His inputs and knowledge helped shape YouTube’s current structure and he was appointed the CEO in February 2023. Neal Mohan is among the highest-earning Indian-origin CEOs joining the likes of Satya Nadella (Microsoft) Sundar Pichai (Alphabet) and Shantanu Narayen (Adobe). His monthly salary is Rs 3.1 crore as reported by The Times of India. However not much information is available about his net worth.
