There is no doubt that Govinda is one of the biggest entertainers of Indian cinema. And back in the ‘90s, he ruled the big screen like no other superstar and even outshined legendary Amitabh Bachchan in Bade Miyan Chote Miyan.
However, Govinda’s co-star from the 1999 hit Anari No 1, Adi Irani has claimed in an interview that the entertainer no. 1 was insecure of everyone on set and would try to not only change scenes but also their acting style so that he can shine over others.
Recalling his association with Govinda, Adi Irani revealed that he and the actor started their struggle at the same time. He told Filmymantra, “While we were not together from day one, our struggle in the industry started almost together. He used to visit the studio where I learnt dancing, and at that point, me and my friends used to make fun of his style of dancing. We had no idea that one day that particular style would blow up and he would be known for it; we were fools for laughing at him.”

He further said that Govinda would change the scenes as per his wish but as his co-actor he never mind that, “He would read the scene and then would go on to change everything, and not just his role but also the way people were acting around him in a scene. He would try to change the scene in a way that would help him shine over others in the frame.”
He was then asked that during Anari No. 1 was there ever a time that Govinda was insecure of him, the actor replied that not just him, he was insecure of everyone on the set, “He wasn’t convinced that I could play the role of Tiger Tadipaar in the film and suggested adding two other villains alongside me, but once he saw my look for the character, he felt confident that I could pull it off.”
Adi also revealed that Govinda couldn’t recognise him at first in the look but was later highly impressed by him.
