Elon Musk, tech billionaire and US President Donald Trump's close ally, has claimed that his life was at risk over his role in the Trump administration and drastic cuts made to the federal workforce by a newly created department- DOGE. The Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) has been created by US President Donald Trump and led by the world's richest man has been tasked with cutting US government jobs and other spending.

Musk is leading the effort to drastically reduce the federal workforce and weed out what he sees as taxpayers' money being wasted. 'They basically want to kill me'

"It turns out when you take away the money they're receiving fraudulently they get very upset," Musk said "They basically want to kill me because I'm stopping their fraud and they want to hurt Tesla because we're stopping this terrible waste and corruption in the government and I guess they're bad people. Bad people will do bad things."

A federal judge on Tuesday blocked billionaire Elon Musk and the DOGE from taking any more steps to shut down the US Agency for International Development, saying their efforts to close the foreign aid agency likely violated the US Constitution. The order requires the Trump administration to restore email and computer access to all employees of USAID, including those put on administrative leave, though it stops short of reversing firings or fully resurrecting the agency. The order also blocks DOGE from making any further cuts to the agency.

The remarks of Elon Musk comes at a time when there have been ongoing protests against his electric vehicle company Tesla in recent weeks. Five Tesla vehicles were damaged after a fire was started at a Tesla Collision Center in Las Vegas during the early hours of Tuesday, March 18. “This was a targeted attack against a Tesla facility,” assistant sheriff Dori Koren told a press conference.

Attacks on Tesla facilities

Ongoing protests have been levied against Musk's electric car company Tesla in recent weeks. Shots were fired into an Oregon Tesla dealership last week, various charging stations have been burned and vandalized in multiple countries and even Tesla owners themselves have been targets of these attacks.

On Sunday, four Cybertrucks were destroyed in a blaze in Seattle, but investigators have not said if the fire, or fires, were intentionally set. On Tuesday, the Seattle Police Department said it was working with federal partners to investigate the incident.

President Donald Trump said Tuesday that he was buying a new Tesla to show his support for Musk as the billionaire’s company struggles with sagging sales and declining stock prices. Tesla's stock, which is largely tied to Musk's massive net worth, has plummeted in recent weeks dropping nearly 50% since Trump was inaugurated.

Trump and Attorney General Pam Bondi have repeatedly suggested that those who vandalize or attack Tesla dealerships or owners should be labeled "domestic terrorists."

Bondi announced on Tuesday that the Justice Department has already charged several people in connection to various alleged attacks against Tesla vehicles, charging stations and dealerships

"The swarm of violent attacks on Tesla property is nothing short of domestic terrorism," Bondi said in a statement. “We will continue investigations that impose severe consequences on those involved in these attacks, including those operating behind the scenes to coordinate and fund these crimes."
