An Israeli strike has allegedly killed a United Nations (UN) worker after their headquarters was struck.
The UN staff member was killed and five others were wounded in a strike today on a headquarters in the Gaza Strip. The health ministry in Gaza said today there was "one death and five severe injuries among foreign staff working for UN institutions...due to the bombing of their headquarters by the occupation in the central governorate a short while ago."
Jorge Moreira da Silva, who head the UN Office for Project Services, did not say who carried out the attack in Deir al-Balah. He also did not share the nationalities of the workers who were killed or wounded.

denies the attack, although it has carried out a series of airstrikes since early on Tuesday. Mr da Silva added the agency had contacted the military following the first strike and said it was aware of the facility's location.
He said: "Israel knew this was a UN premise, that people were living, staying and working there." According to CBS42, there have been no reports of rocket fire or Palestinian militant attacks since Israel launched the airstrikes overnight.
The Gaza Health Ministry, which is operated by the terrorist organisation Hamas, has claimed that at least 436 people, including 183 children and 94 women, were killed since Israel ordered the strikes. It also added hundreds had been wounded.
Israel said it only targets Hamas militants in Gaza and puts the blame on any civilian deaths on the terrorist group for operating in populated areas. The health ministry does not make any distinction between civilian and militant deaths or wounded.
The Israeli government launched strikes after the ceasefire started on January 19 after talks to extend it failed to come to an agreement. A statement from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office said on Tuesday: "This follows Hamas's repeated refusal to release our hostages, as well as its rejection of all of the proposals it has received from US Presidential Envoy Steve Witkoff and from the mediators. Israel will, from now on, act against Hamas with increasing military strength."
