However, the moment was far from celebratory. Both online and offline, protests erupted, with many questioning her acting skills and others opposing her political stance. The outrage has taken over social media, with netizens flooding timelines with criticism, sarcasm, and disappointment.

Gal Gadot received her Hollywood Walk of Fame star on March 18. However, even before the event concluded, chaos unfolded. Protesters arrived with posters carrying slogans such as "Heroes Fight Like Palestine" and "Viva Viva Palestine." According to reports, chants of “Up with liberation, down with occupation” were heard, and one protester directly stated, “We have no reason to celebrate an Israeli.” The protests delayed the event by 15 minutes, yet the opposition remained loud and clear throughout.

Despite the backlash, Gal Gadot went ahead with her speech, dedicating her honour to Hollywood actor Vin Diesel. She thanked him for believing in her and acknowledged the Fast & Furious director for giving her a chance in Hollywood. The actress attended the ceremony with her husband and four daughters, whose pictures from the event are now viral on social media.

While Gal Gadot celebrated her achievement, the internet had other thoughts. Social media exploded with criticism, sarcasm, and outright rejection of her Walk of Fame star. One user sarcastically wrote, “If Gal Gadot can achieve a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, then you can achieve one as well. Just don’t do anything—you’re on the right track.”

Another compared her acting skills to Bollywood’s Arjun Kapoor, saying, “If Gal Gadot has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, then Arjun Kapoor also deserves a star as well.” Some questioned the credibility of the Walk of Fame itself, with one person stating, “It’s a little funny to think that there are people walking around who believe the Hollywood Walk of Fame still has any semblance of prestige; and that the same people know enough to hate Gal Gadot.” 

Others were blunt in their critique of her acting, with one writing, “Regardless of how you feel about Palestine, these people are right to protest Gal Gadot getting a star—she’s not a very good actress.” Another went even further, saying, “Gal Gadot is one of the most horrible actors this generation has ever seen, and she got a star??? I can probably act better than her. None of her movies are iconic, none of her movies are ever worth wasting money on.” Beyond her acting, some were outraged at the timing of her honour, linking it to the ongoing Israel-Palestine conflict. One user pointed out, “On the same day that Israel breaks the ceasefire and returns to bombing and gassing Palestinian children in Gaza, Hollywood chooses to reward IDF soldier Gal Gadot with a star on the Walk of Fame.” Another condemned the decision, calling it “absolutely sickening” and stating, “The blood will never wipe off her coloniser's hands.”

The protests against Gadot weren’t just about Hollywood credibility but also about her past as an IDF soldier and her vocal stance on the Israel-Palestine conflict. Gal Gadot may have a star, but the internet isn't celebrating. Whether it’s her acting, her political stance, or the mere idea of what Hollywood considers ‘fame-worthy,’ social media has made one thing clear—this win is far from unanimous.
