Kolkata: In a face-off between Trinamool Congress (TMC) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in south 24 parganas Baruipur area, Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari urged that the Election Commission should note the way he was attacked by the TMC supporters.

“The way the TMC supporters attacked by car with sticks had I been outside my car then I would have been seriously injured. TMC got afraid that BJP had entered Speaker Biman Bandhopadhyay’s Assembly constituency.

Notably, on Tuesday Biman Bandhopadhyay didn’t allow a discussion on an adjournment motion brought by the BJP lawmakers, to condemn alleged violence in Birbhum’s Sainthia on the day of Holi.

Following this, the BJP legislatures had protested against the alleged ‘undemocratic behavior’ of the Assembly Speaker and to show their might few MLAs of the saffron camp along with the Leader of Opposition planned a rally at Baruipur.

No sooner did the convoy of Adhikari enter Baruipur than the ‘Go Back’ and ‘Chor chor’ slogan was started by the supporters of the ruling party.

Incidentally, the ruling party also had their public programme at the same venue on Wednesday.

“We will agitate against the police on March 27 and we will bring more BJP supporters. We Hindus are not afraid of anything. We will gherao the district superintendent of police’s office on March 27,” further mentioned Adhikari.

BJP MLA Agnimitra Paul said that BJP is being attacked as they speak for ‘problems of the Hindus’.

TMC vice president Jai Prakash Majumdar said that BJP has ‘no public connect’.
