Dragon Crew Capsule Cost: Sunita Williams has returned to Earth through SpaceX's Dragon Crew capsule. SpaceX has spent a huge amount for this mission. Let's know how much this capsule costs.

Dragon Crew Capsule Cost: Sunita Williams, Butch Wilmore, Alexander Gorbunov and Nick Hague have returned to Earth. Sunita Williams and Butch Wilmore started their mission on the ISS on 6 June 2024. At the same time, Alexander Gorbunov and Nick Hague reached the station on 29 September 2024. Sunita Williams, who was stuck for 9 months, has now returned to Earth. All of them have been brought back by the Dragon Freedom Capsule of Elon Musk's company SpaceX. This capsule has been launched 49 times since its construction. The Dragon capsule has traveled to the International Space Station 44 times. But do you know its price.

How many kilos does the Dragon Crew Capsule weigh

NASA has chosen SpaceX's Dragon Crew Capsule to bring back the four astronauts. This capsule can accommodate seven astronauts at a time. For your information, let us tell you that this is the world's first private aircraft that has been continuously carrying cargo to and from the space station. This empty capsule weighs 7700 kg. When it is launched with this cargo and astronauts, its maximum weight becomes 12,500 kg. Usually two to four astronauts can sit in this capsule, but in case of emergency, it has a seating arrangement for seven people.

How much does Elon Musk's capsule cost

SpaceX has taken the responsibility of bringing back the astronauts, so obviously it must have borne the expenses as well. They have been brought to Earth through SpaceX's Crew Dragon capsule and Falcon 9 rocket. In such a situation, the launch cost of Falcon 9 is Rs 580 crore (69.75 million dollars) while the cost of Crew Dragon capsule has been Rs 1170 crore i.e. 140 million dollars. If reports are to be believed, the cost per seat of SpaceX's Dragon spacecraft is about 55 million dollars (about 45 billion rupees).

SpaceX reuses its capsule

Elon Musk's company SpaceX reuses its rockets and capsules, due to which its cost is reduced. But this time it had become an emergency mission, in which the lives of 4 people were at stake, so there was a huge expenditure on security and additional facilities. Therefore, this time the cost of this mission has increased. Crew Dragon capsule is specially used to bring and take people from space, so it has a backup system, life support system, emergency evacuation system, which is why its cost increases.
