Although he has been cleared for batting, it is understood that the medical and sports science team of the BCCI Center of Excellence wants him to rest his finger for some more time before starting wicketkeeping.

Rajasthan Royals said in a statement, 'Riyan Parag will lead the team for the first three matches of IPL 2025. The young all-rounder will captain the team in the opening match against Sunrisers Hyderabad on March 23. After this, he will also lead the team in the home match against defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders on March 26 and five-time champions Chennai Super Kings on March 30.'

Samson is an important part of the Royals team and will be seen playing an important role with the bat until he gets permission for wicketkeeping and fielding. He will return as captain after being fully fit. The Royals management also explained why Riyan from Assam was preferred over young Yashasvi Jaiswal. Yashasvi is one of the best current batsmen at the international level and is also a regular part of the team.
