JK: Former MLA and BJP leader committed suicide and shot himself in a state house
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and former MLA Baghir Mohammed Khan committed suicide in Jammu and Kashmir. The former MLA from the Cureez region was assigned to the planned tribes of the valley on Thursday, allegedly shot dead in the Tulsi Pag of Srinagar on Thursday, shot dead in his government quarters. Party officials have confirmed the incident. The party officials who provided the information, said 62 years -Fakir Mohammed Khan had shot himself at his government residence. However, he was immediately rushed to the SMHS Hospital in Srinagar, where the doctors on duty declared him dead. BJP spokesman Altaf Thakur said the former MLA had died of suicide. However, why Fakir Mohammed took this action, and it was not immediately known. The police have begun to investigate the circumstances surrounding his death. Gurez lost in last year's election, and Fakir Khan Mohammed Khan, the son of Zuma Khan, who lives in Kurus in Bandibora district of northern Kashmir, was an experienced politician of the Valley. Fakhir Mohammed Khan was fielded as an independent candidate from Qurus in the 1996 election and was elected to the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly. Later in 2020, he joined the Bharatiya Janata Party and went on a party ticket in the 2024 assembly elections last year, but had to face defeat. In this legislative election, Fakir Mohammed Khan again tried his fortune from Quresh (ST), but Nasir Ahmed Khan Khan Khureji of the National Convention lost by 1,049 votes.
