Türkiye triumphs 3-1 over Hungary in thrilling UEFA Nations League play-off

Türkiye’s national football team claimed a crucial 3-1 victory against Hungary in the first leg of the UEFA Nations League A/B League play-off on Thursday. The win gives Türkiye the edge ahead of the second leg, scheduled for March 23 in Hungary.

Oguz Aydin shone in his first official appearance for Türkiye, delivering assists for two of the goals. Orkun Kokcu opened the scoring in the 9th minute, while Kerem Akturkoglu’s header in the 69th minute and Irfan Can Kahveci’s strike in the 73rd minute secured the win.

Hungary had equalized in the 25th minute after a defensive error by Türkiye’s goalkeeper Ugurcan Cakir, which allowed Andras Schafer to score.

The match was marked by setbacks for Türkiye, including Kaan Ayhan’s injury in the 27th minute and Orkun Kokcu’s yellow card, which rules him out for the second leg.

The winner of the play-off will advance to the UEFA Nations League A League.
