Commonwealth Games 2030: India landed in the race for organizing Commonwealth Games, took a big decision

The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) has officially applied for hosting CWG 2030. The Olympic Association officially sent an application to the Commonwealth Games Federation on 13 March 2025. With this step, India has taken an important step towards hosting the 2036 Olympic Games. India last hosted the Commonwealth Games in Delhi in 2010, in which the country won a record 101 medals.

Commonwealth is excuse, target on Olympics

Getting hosting 2030 Commonwealth Games will be a big step towards hosting the 2036 Olympic Games for India. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed India's desire to host the Olympic Games, and since then all the concerned institutions including IOA have started serious efforts in this direction. Getting hosting 2030 CWG will give India a chance to showcase its preparations and win the world's trust for a big event like Olympics.

If India hosts 2030 CWG, it is planning to re -include several events removed from the Commonwealth Games to be held in 2026. Sports like hockey, shooting, badminton and wrestling, which have been excluded from Glasgow 2026 CWG. A source told PTI, 'We wish to event, and there has been a formal conversation with the Commonwealth Games Federation in this regard. We have also proposed to re -include all the games removed from 2026 CWG.

India will get a chance to get a Commonwealth Games here

If India gets a chance to organize Commonwealth Games, it will be held in Ahmedabad. Sports villages are also being built in Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar for Commonwealth Games 2030. According to media reports, places in Gujarat have been selected for the Commonwealth Games include SVP Enclave, Narnpura Sporrsts Complex, Statue of Unity, Narendra Modi Stadium, IIT Gandhinagar, Gujarat University, Transustedia Ek Arena, Yoga Mahatma Temple, Vijay Bharat Foundation.

2026 CWG organized

The 23rd season of the Commonwealth Games will be held in Glasgow from 23 July to 2 August 2026. This city of Scotland, which hosted the event in 2014, will once again welcome the athletes of the Commonwealth. India finished fourth in the medal tally with 61 medals (22 gold, 16 silver and 23 bronze) in Birmingham at the 2022 Commonwealth Games.
