Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) has taken strict action against tax defaulters, recovering outstanding amounts and attaching properties of 8 defaulters, including a marriage garden and a hotel.
The action was carried out on Thursday as part of the corporation's ongoing efforts to recover property tax, water charges and other fees. Among properties seized were Hills View Marriage Garden near Kaliyasot Dam, Jyoti Shopping Centre shops in MP Nagar, Hotel Hidden Paradise in Suraj Nagar, M/s Million Traders Liquor Shop in Barkhedi Kalan and Radhuvanshi Motors in Neelbad.
These properties had significant unpaid dues, ranging from Rs 1.11 lakh to over Rs 14 lakh. In a positive turn during the crackdown, three defaulters, including Anand Kumar Gupta, deposited a total of Rs 3.29 lakh to settle their dues, avoiding further penalties.
Gupta's properties in Ward No 47 of MP Nagar Zone 02 had outstanding dues of Rs 1.42 lakh, Rs 97,992, and Rs 89,524. The actions were carried out under the leadership of Zonal Officers from various zones, including Nutan Khare (Zone 08), Vishal Ramkar (Zone 10), Rajneesh Srivastava (Zone 12) and Shailesh Chauhan (Zone 21). Commissioner Harendra Narayan has urged continued strict measures for defaulter recovery in the coming days.
