The CBI has arrested a Senior General Manager of Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. and a Deputy General Manager of a private company for exchanging a Rs. 2.4 lakh bribe.

The Sr. GM allegedly accepted the bribe from the DGM to facilitate undue favours in processing and approving bills to contracts awarded by the PSU to the private company. Acting on credible intelligence, the CBI registered a case on March 19, 2025, naming six accused, including representatives of the private company and unknown public servants.

A trap was laid, and the Sr. GM was caught red-handed at Sikar, Rajasthan, accepting the bribe. Both accused were immediately apprehended. Investigations revealed a broader conspiracy involving collusion between the PSU official and representatives of the private firm.

Searches conducted at various locations in Sikar, Jaipur, and Mohali led to the recovery of incriminating documents and digital evidence. The CBI is continuing its investigation to uncover further details and identify any additional individuals involved in the scam.

This case underscores the CBI’s commitment to rooting out corruption within the public and private sectors.
