The tiny Spanish village with fewer than 200 residents that's getting its own museum

This has a tiny population but it's getting a unique museum with an unusual appeal. Santa Cruz de la Salceda has a population of just 140 inhabitants making it a small and quiet part of .

But the village will soon be home to the Museum of Smells, where you can enjoy more than 90 different types of scents. From scents found in nature, such as truffles or cedar, to those related to cooking like spices, various oils, and even a stew - the museum will provide a unique sensory experience. It will also include other smells such as fragrances and food or memories from the past such as talcum powder.

The museum offers a special contribution to society and can help people to train their sense of smell - this became important after the pandemic when some people lost this ability.

It is the first and only existing museum in and Europe on this aspect.

Inside, the smells will be organised into certain categories, for example into aromas that heal or make you sick. There will also be scents of danger, wines, coffees and oils.

researchers have been involved in the project including two specialists from The Spanish Society of Otorhinolaryngology.

Dr. Toledano, Dr. Haro and professor Mr. Abraham Tamir are all specialists on the nose and have worked on an artificial nose.

The experts have been involved with the museum and have contributed to its opening.

If you plan to visit, trips will be guided, with a maximum of 25 people in each tour so you should book in advance if you aim to go.

The village is in Burgos, a pretty part of to visit and one that isn't often crowded with tourists.

If you're to the area, one must-see place is Burgos cathedral.

A visitor on Tripadvisor said: "I liked this Cathedral better than the one in Leon - it was more ornate and artistic with more to look at.

"Plus, it was lighter and not dark. Great sepulchers, elaborate alcoves, wonderful artwork, and a pleasant location with parking a few blocks away. This Cathedral is a must see if passing through the area."
