“A snack break before we get to work,” reads the title of a video that Microsoft co-founder and philanthropist Bill Gates uploaded on Instagram featuring Indian cricket great Sachin Tendulkar.

Gates and Tendulkar are seen in the video sitting on a bench and sharing vada pav. “Serving soon.” is the caption that appears at the end of the video. “I came away with new ideas because India is full of smart, ambitious people tackling some of the world’s hardest problems in creative ways,” Gates said in his blog post after visiting the country.

Renowned as the ‘God of Cricket,’ Tendulkar still retains the records for both Test and One-Day International (ODI) runs scored, as well as the remarkable feat of 100 international hundreds. From 1989 until 2013, he delighted cricket fans all over the world with his extraordinary abilities and command of the game.

At the age of 16, the cricketer from Maharashtra made his Test debut on November 15, 1989, and on December 18 of the same year, he participated in his maiden ODI. He continued to be the top run scorer in international cricket with 34,357 runs at an average of 48.52 in 664 games. In the history of the sport, his 100 centuries and 164 half-centuries are still unrivaled.

Tendulkar played a record 200 Test matches and became the first batsman to reach a double century in ODIs. He amassed 18,426 runs at an average of 44.83 in ODIs, which included 96 half-centuries and 49 hundreds. He scored 15,921 runs at an average of 53.78 in Test matches, including 51 hundreds and 68 fifties.

After making his World Cup debut in 1992, Tendulkar accomplished a longtime ambition of collecting the famous trophy in 2011 as a vital component of India’s ICC Cricket World Cup winning side. He played for the Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League (IPL) from 2008 to 2013, and he helped them win the championship that year.
