A release by the Ministry of Labor and Employment said that the Employees Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has released a provisional payroll data for January 2025, which has revealed the net increase of 17.89 lakh members.

The net payroll growth has registered an increase of 11.48 percent during the current month as compared to December 2024 last month.

In addition, year-on-year analysis suggests that net payroll growth has increased by 11.67 percent as compared to January 2024, which shows an increase in employment opportunities and increasing awareness about employee benefits, which have gained force from EPFO's effective outreach initiatives.

The main features of EPFO ​​payroll data (January 2025) are as follows:

New customers:

EPFO nominated around 8.23 ​​lakh new customers in January 2025. The increase in the number of new customers shows an increase of 1.87% year -on year in January 2024 as compared to the previous year. This increase in new customers can be due to increasing employment opportunities, increasing awareness about employee benefits and successful outreach programs of EPFO.

People in the age group 18-25 added the most payroll:

A remarkable aspect of the data is dominated by the 18-25 age group, the 18-25 age group included 4.70 lakh new customers, which is 57.07% of the total new customers added in January 2025. New customers in the 18-25 age group added in this month show an increase of 3.07% in January 2024 as compared to the previous year.

In addition, the net payroll joint for the 18–25 age group for January 2025 is around 7.27 lakhs, an increase of 6.19% compared to the previous month of December 2024 and an increase of 8.15% compared to the previous year in January 2024. The payroll data suggests that about 15.03 lakh members exited the EPFO ​​and joined it again. This figure indicates an important year-on-year increase of 23.55% compared to January 2024. These members changed their jobs and re -joined establishments under the purview of EPFO ​​and opted to transfer their accumulation rather than applying for final disposal, protecting long -term financial well -being and expanded their social security security.

Increase in women's membership:

The gender-wise analysis of parole data suggests that about 2.17 lakh new female customers are among the total new customers added during the month. This figure indicates an important year-on-year increase of 6.01% compared to January 2024.

In addition, pure female payroll growth during the month was around 3.44 lakhs, showing an increase of 13.48% compared to the previous month of December 2024. It also shows an important year-on-year increase of 13.58% compared to January 2024. The growth of female members is a sign of extensive changes towards a more inclusive and diverse workforce.

State -wise contribution:

State -wise analysis of parole data shows that the top five states/union territories constitute approximately 59.98% net payroll growth, adding about 10.73 lakh pure parole during the month. In all states, Maharashtra is leading by adding 22.77% pure parole during the month of Maharashtra. Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Telangana states/union territories personally increased the total net salary by more than 5% during the month
