There are always different figures about the budget in the film industry, one of which is exaggerated for campaigning among the audience and the other is real. The case of Kannada film Lucia was also similar, but interesting was that both the budgets used to claim themselves to be the real figures.
Lucia was directed by Pawan Kumar and it was the first crowd-funded film in the Kannada film industry. The film started collecting funds directly from the audience, in which about 51 lakh rupees were raised. However, during the film's process, the producers felt that a film could not be made in this budget as they wanted. After this, some investors were successful in adding and the budget increased to Rs 1.1 crore.
Pawan Kumar told in a conversation with Bangalore Mirror that after seeing the real form of the film, he felt that the budget would have to be increased a little further, so that his vision could be fully realized. Film makers "Crowd-funded" Instead of saying "Crowd-Sound" The film was termed, because the film was the result of a collective effort more than the funds collected from the audience.
After Lucia's release, the film achieved financial success. The film grossed Rs 2.5 crore, which was much more than its actual construction budget. Apart from this, the satellite rights of the film were sold for Rs 1 crore, which strengthened its success.
After releasing in 2013, Lucia created a new wave in Kannada cinema and its innovative story and concept were appreciated. Satish Ninasam, Shruti Hariharan and Achyut Kumar played lead roles in this film and their payment was also appreciated.
