New details have emerged regarding the shooting incident involving the nephews of Union Minister of State for Home, Nityanand Rai, in Navgachiya, Bhagalpur. Reports indicate that the murder was premeditated, with the plan being made 15 hours before the tragic event. A longstanding land dispute between Vishwajit and Jaijit escalated into violence, resulting in Vishwajit fatally shooting Jaijit, who later returned fire. Vishwajit succumbed to his injuries, while Jaijit remains critically wounded. Their mother was also injured in the crossfire.

The bitter feud over property and house division between Vishwajit and Jaijit had been ongoing for years. The night before the incident, the conflict reached a boiling point. Vishwajit confided in his wife, revealing that he had acquired a firearm and intended to shoot Jaijit before Jaijit could harm him. Despite his wife’s attempts to dissuade him, he remained resolute, warning her that if he were killed, she would live with regret.

On Thursday morning, a seemingly minor argument between the wives of the two brothers over filling water from a tap reignited the tensions. The altercation quickly escalated, leading Vishwajit to fire a shot at Jaijit, striking him in the jaw. In retaliation, Jaijit shot Vishwajit in the chest, killing him instantly. Meanwhile, their mother, Meena Devi, suffered a gunshot wound to her hand and is currently receiving treatment in a hospital in Bhagalpur. Jaijit remains in critical condition at a Patna hospital.

Following the incident, Union Minister Nityanand Rai visited his sister’s residence on Friday to meet the grieving family. However, he chose to evade media inquiries regarding the violent confrontation. Upon leaving the Circuit House, he quickly entered his vehicle, rolling up the windows as reporters questioned him about the presence of illegal weapons in his family home. Despite persistent questioning, the minister provided no response and departed swiftly.
