viewers were left fuming on the latest episode of for two major reasons as the show aired its final episode of the week on Friday (March 21) as long-standing host introduced players Carla, Brad, Matt and Jay to the fold in a bid to bag some cash. But minutes in, chaser was introduced as today's formidable quiz guru. Fans were immediately up in arms as he appeared on Thursday night's episode (March 20).

Fans questioned why they were featuring the same chaser twice, and were even more perturbed after noticing the episode was a repeat, with some claiming Shaun's double-run was totally avoidable. "Why is Shaun on again? There's enough chasers geeez," blasted one fan. "Shaun is on again 2 days on the trot," another penned with an eye roll emoji. A third joked: "Yes, Shaun's back for the second day in a row, because, I'll say this for everyone at the back: *this is a repeat*!"

Player Jay, however, was delighted to see Shaun, proclaiming "If I win, I want a big kiss on your bald head."

Bradley appeared wide-eyed, simply saying: "wow!"

The show is often slammed for airing repeat episodes, though complaints have also been pouring in to show bosses about the format of the show.

Fans have long criticized the show after a seemingly overwhelming amount of player's "play it safe" and take the lowest cash offer, making the stakes lower and show less dramatic.

Choosing the lower offer give players an advantage against the chaser, allowing them to get more questions wrong and still make it through to the final.

Fans recently declared they were "switching off" after the latest performance by contestants on the show.

The contestants went up against , and boasted a prize pot at just £3k after three contestants had played. "Giving up on The Chase.

So boring now," said one fan." Another blasted: "2 low offers and £1500 between 2 so far... time to switch off the telly."

A third claimed the show was "repetitive and boring" in a swipe at contestants taking low offers.

While another fan slammed: "What is the point of #TheChase when they go for the low offer. The idea is to get money in the pot."

But despite the repeat episode and Shaun's double-billing on the latest episode, fans did applaud the players for not taking the low offer, with each winning back the money they accumulated in the cash builder round.

The full-house team managed to bank a decent prize pot of £17k. Their impressive score of 20 in the final chase put them in good stead to take home the money as chaser Shaun attempted to catch their score.

It was a nailbiting finish as several mistakes form Shaun pushed the team to victory, splitting the prize pot between the four players.
