An assistant professor at NIT Silchar, Dr. Koteshwar Raju Dhenukonda, has been arrested following serious allegations of sexual misconduct made by a B.Tech student.
The student alleged that the professor called her to his chamber under the pretext of discussing her low grades.
During the meeting, he allegedly touched her inappropriately, including grabbing her thighs and neck.
Outraged by the incident, the student staged an overnight protest, demanding immediate action.
Cachar Superintendent of Police, Numal Mahatta, confirmed that the accused was arrested from the NIT Silchar campus following complaints from both the victim and her family.
