Shah Rukh Khan is not just an actor but an emotion for millions of people. He is not only adored and loved by his fans in India but also across the world. While Shah Rukh Khan continues to dominate the industry and remains everyone’s favorite who is his favorite? One might assume it to be Kajol or Deepika Padukone but the answer will leave you shocked. SRKs favorite actress is not from this generation but from the 1950s.
Yes the actress we are talking about made her debut at the age of 11 and soon became a Bollywood superstar. Not only that but she also made people go gaga over her beauty and her exceptional performances. She is known for films such as Mahabharat (1965) Ayee Milan Ki Bela (1964) and Dahej (1950).
Shah Rukh Khans favorite actress is none other than Mumtaz Begum. During the chat show Kuch Bhi Ho Sakta Hai hosted by Anupam Kher SRK was asked about the actress he adores the most.
He didn’t name any of his co-stars; instead he admires someone much older than him. With a slight blush on his face SRK said Meri all-time favorite hai Mumtaz ji. Mujhe bohot khubsurat lagti hain. (My all-time favorite is Mumtaz ji. I find her very beautiful).
Mumtaz was born to her Iranian parents Shadi Habib Agha and Abdul Saleem Askari. Just a year after Mumtazs birth her parents decided to part ways. In 1952 Mumtaz made her acting debut with the film Sanskar.
It was the late famous actor Dara Singh who supported Mumtazs career by offering her a role alongside him in Faulad. During her career Mumtaz worked with well-known actors like Rajesh Khanna Amitabh Bachchan Dev Anand Jeetendra Shammi Kapoor Dharmendra and Shashi Kapoor.
In 1974 Mumtaz tied the knot with businessman Mayur Madhwani at the peak of her career at the age of 27. The veteran actress then stepped away from the film industry moving first to Mombasa and later to London. She is a proud mother to her daughters Tanya and Natasha.
