WhatsApp Account Ban: Instant messaging platform WhatsApp has made a big disclosure in its latest monthly report. The company said that in January 2025, it has banned more than 99.67 lakh accounts. This action has been taken to stop increasing spam, scams, and illegal activities. This app owned by Meta has made it clear that if any user violates the rules, then such accounts will be blocked in the future as well.

WhatsApp has to submit a report every month.

In India, WhatsApp has to release its report every month under the IT Act. In this, it gives information about the steps taken to give a safe experience to its users. According to the company, a total of 99.67 lakh accounts were banned from January 1 to January 30, 2025. Of these, 13.27 lakh accounts were such which were blocked even before any complaint.

Apart from this, WhatsApp received 9,474 user complaints in January, out of which the company took action on 239 blocked accounts and adopted other security measures.

WhatsApp bans accounts in three ways.
WhatsApp said that it has a three-layer security system, through which it can identify suspicious accounts and block them.

1. Scanning during sign-up - When a new account is created, WhatsApp's system can scan suspicious activities and ban them immediately.

2. Spam and bulk message detection - If an account repeatedly sends spam or bulk messages, then this system automatically blocks it.

3. Action on user feedback - If a user complains about an account, the WhatsApp team investigates it and decides to block it.

If these mistakes are made, the account will be banned
If a user violates WhatsApp's policy, his account can be blocked. WhatsApp may block accounts without warning for activities such as sending bulk or spam messages, spreading fake news or rumors, and scams.
