The Department of Pension and Pensioners Welfare (DOPW) has given several updates on the deadline to complete many activities and the timely distribution of pension benefits and gratuity on retirement of government employees. There are many rules regarding pension and gratuity for retired government employees. You will have to give information about all this a year before retiring. Let us tell you about it
Employees living in government residence will have to give complete information about the status of their residence at least one year before retiring. Then these details are sent to Estate Directorate to issue no demand certificate (NDC). This certificate should be obtained eight months before retirement. This step ensures that any outstanding amount related to government housing has been repaid before retirement.
According to the office memorandum of October 25, 2024, "Complete information about the government accommodation should be obtained from the government employee at least one year before the estimated date of retirement and to send these details to the Directorate of Estates to issue a 'No Demand Certificate' regarding the period before the eighth month of the government employee's retirement.
Verification and Correction of Service Records (Rules 56 and 57)
A comprehensive review of the service records of the retirement employee will be done one year before retirement.
Presentation of pension case (Rules 59 and 60)
HOD will have to send the entire pension case to salary and accounting office with covering letters in Format 10. This should be done within two months from the date of getting a pension form from a retired employee.
Issue of Pension Payment Order (PPO)
On receiving the pension case, the account officer will follow the process for necessary verification and investigation. The CPA will issue and forward the pension disbursement authority with a copy of the pension payment order within twenty -one days from the date of receipt of pension payment order.
