has revealed that his wife and their seven-year-old twins have joined him in New York, as he makes his Broadway debut in Good Night, and Good Luck.

In the lead-up to the gig, sources claimed that the actor and his family will be living apart for a long period of time, due to her work commitments in the UK as a Human Rights Lawyer.

One insider previously told Woman's Day New Zealand magazine that the pair had been "drifting apart" over the "testing" irregular hours and distance.

However, it seems this isn't the case after all, with George, 63, now confirming that Amal, 47, has temporarily left their home in Europe to support him on his new venture.

While Amal may be hoping for a front row seat to watch George in action, the actor said he's made other plans to avoid eye contact with her.

Speaking to CBS News, he shared: "I'm not looking at them. I'm putting my wife in the very, very, very back."

Amal is reported to have moved some of her work commitments around in order to be with George.

A source told Woman's Day magazine: "This wasn't what they agreed on. Amal's got so much work on right now and most of it's in Europe.

"She was missing him, but she's not happy about having to move around him."

Earlier this month, George's wife announced that she had accepted a new role at the University of Oxford, her alma mater.

In a statement shared with the BBC, she said: "I am honoured to be back at Oxford, this time not as a student but as a professor.

"It is a privilege to have this opportunity to engage with the next generation of global leaders and to contribute to the vibrant academic community at Oxford.

"I look forward to collaborating with both faculty and students to advance access to justice around the world."

George and Amal, who married in 2014, are no strangers to supporting each other through their respective careers and juggle as parents.

Previously gushing over his spouse on My Next Guest Needs No Introduction with David Letterman, George said: "I met someone who I would absolutely trade my life for.

"I met someone, who, her life meant more to me than my life. I had never had that experience before."

On how she had adapted to motherhood for the first time in 2017, he added: "She's like an Olympic athlete. She's doing so beautifully."
