Vice Chancellor Prof. Pratibha Goyal presided over a Vidya Parishad meeting on March 24 at Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Avadh University’s Kautilya Administrative Building auditorium. The institution formally embraced the updated National Education Policy-2020 (NEP) standards at the conference.
According to news agency ANI, the Vice Chancellor gave an explanation of the new policy and said that it will be implemented at the undergraduate and graduate levels on the university campus and associated institutions beginning with the 2025–2026 academic year.
According to the Higher Education Department’s updated framework, NEP has implemented a four-year undergraduate program with a standardized credit system of 20 credits each semester for both UG and PG courses.
This system will encompass four-year undergraduate programs like BA, BSc, and BCom, including honors and research-based degrees, as well as single-subject postgraduate courses like MA, MSc, and MCom. It will be applicable to faculties like Arts, Science, and Commerce. The current three-year undergraduate programs, however, will remain unchanged.
Students will first be accepted into the campus and connected universities’ three-year graduation program. They will be able to choose between a four-year honors degree and a four-year honors research degree in their fourth year. At the time of admission, students must choose their course, such as BA, BSc, BCom, etc. After three years, students who want to pursue a four-year degree must reapply for admission to the postgraduate program in the relevant field.
The Vice Chancellor also emphasized that, when submitting an application, students would have a variety of departure alternatives, enabling them to drop their course after the first, second, third, or fourth year.
