There are many people in Indian cinema who started their journey with a rough patch. From having no money these individuals rose to fame and today own various business chains. The man in discussion once worked as a chauffeur for a famous actor. However with his grit and determination he rose to prominence and is now considered one of the most successful producers in South Indian cinema. If you are wondering who we are talking about the person in discussion is Antony Perumbavoor.
Antony Perumbavoor started his journey in 1988 when he joined the sets of Mohanlal starrer Pattanapravesham as a part-time driver. He was assigned to drive the actor to the shoot for 22 days. That same year while Mohanlals Moonnam Mura was being filmed Antony happened to be present as a spectator. Spotting him in the crowd Mohanlal recognized him and invited him to rejoin as a driver. He then offered Antony the job which he gladly accepted.
Antonys major breakthrough came when in 2000 he started the film production company Ashirvad Cinemas. Its first film Narasimham starring Mohanlal in the lead role became a huge hit and was also the highest-grossing Malayalam film of that time.
In 2009 Antony Perumbavoor launched the film distribution company Maxlab Cinemas and Entertainments along with Mohanlal and industrialist K.C. Babu. This business also flourished bringing Antony name fame and wealth.
From one flourishing business to another Antony laid the foundation of his first multiplex theatre Ashirvad Cineplex in Perumbavoor and later expanded it to other areas of Kerala.
As success rolled in Antony opened a branch of Ashirvad Cinemas in Hong Kong as Feitian Ashirvad Cinemas leaving a mark in the international market.
For the unversed Antony Perumbavoor exclusively produces Mohanlals films. He has also produced the Lucifer and Drishyam series. With that he has become a big name in the industry. Not only this but he also appears in small roles in films.
