Salt is an important part of our daily life. Any dish, its taste without salt seems incomplete. But have you ever wondered what is the difference between different types of salt found in the market? Especially white salt, rock salt and black salt-all three come with different features and they are also used in different ways. Let us know about them in detail.

The simple white salt that we use daily is called table salt or ordinary salt. It is extracted from sea water or salt mines and then refined and sold in packets. It mainly contains sodium chloride (NACL) and sometimes iodine is also added to it so that there is no deficiency of iodine in the body. However, while processing it, many minerals present in it are destroyed, which can make it less nutritious.

Rock salt (rock salt)

We often use rock salt during fasting. It is called rock salt in English and it is prepared with large pieces of salt made from drying sea water. It can be white, pink or light brown. Apart from sodium chloride, it also contains other minerals, which make it more beneficial than ordinary salt. It improves digestion and reduces acidity. The minerals present in it maintain electrolyte balance in the body. It helps in keeping blood pressure balanced. It works to deliver the necessary nutrients to the body during the fast.

Black salt

Black salt is light pink or dark brown in appearance. Its taste is slightly spicy and smell is sharp, which comes due to sulfur present in it. It is mainly used in Ayurvedic medicines and spices. It removes stomach problems and improves digestion. It relieves acidity and gas problems. It contains low sodium content, due to which it is considered safe for high blood pressure patients. It can help in increasing metabolism in the body and lose weight.
