Matt is also known for his passion for farming, co-hosting Countryfile every Sunday night since 2009.
More recently, he's been stealing the spotlight as the host of Our Dream Farm, where seven shortlisted hopefuls compete for a ten-year farm tenancy on 340 acres of National Trust land, reports .
Away from the limelight, Matt shares a sweet love story with his wife, Nicola Mooney. Let's delve into their charming partnership.
It all started when they first met as teenagers, a moment Matt fondly recalls as "the best day of [his] life".
Matt previously spilled the beans on how he bravely approached Nicola at a disco extravaganza in Pier 39 in Cleethorpes, mustering his courage for the life-changing introduction.
"I was a gymnast when I was a lot younger and I ended up in a 1970s re-enactment group that used to tour night clubs," he confided during an episode of Lorraine.
"I ended up in this disco inferno and I was backflipping on stage, I used to dress up in wigs. One of the clubs that we went to was around the northeast in Cleethorpes and Nicola used to go to the nights.
"That is how we met. She never knew it was me. I spotted her there, it was love at first sight for me."
In a 2011 interview with The Express, the TV presenter expressed his gratitude for meeting his wife Nicola before he shot to fame.
"I'm so lucky that I met my wife Nicola before any of this telly lark started. I knew way back then she was the one and I don't think I could have done all this without her," he confessed.
After a seven-year courtship, the pair tied the knot at Winston in Teesdale in 2004, and have since welcomed two children, Luke, 17, and Molly, 15.
In 2021, Matt and his family swapped their home in the Chilterns for the Durham countryside amidst the coronavirus pandemic.
The family of four made the move north to assist Matt's father with running the farm after his mother Janice suffered injuries from being trampled by a flock of sheep.
Reflecting on his children's rural upbringing, Matt previously stated: "We're fortunate that our children have that kind of upbringing and they understand the kind of responsibility that comes with that, and how helpful and practical it can be. For me, growing up on a farm like that, it made me without question who I am."
