New Delhi: Fifty from Rajat Patidar (51) and RCB bowlers went hard in the game as they set the base for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and beat Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by 50 runs in the eighth game of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai here on Friday.
RCB clinch the victory, and Virat Kohli finally tastes victory at Chepauk after 17 years, having last won here by the Royal Challengers Bengaluru in 2008.
Chennai Super Kings’ pursuit of 197 runs against Royal Challengers Bangalore is in jeopardy as they have lost seven wickets, reaching only 99 runs at Chepauk. MS Dhoni, following Ravichandran Ashwin in the batting lineup, stepped in with the team requiring 98 runs off 28 balls.
Rachin Ravindra had been CSK’s highest scorer so far with 41 runs. CSK were struggling at 8/2 in the second over, after Josh Hazlewood dismissed both Rahul Tripathi and Ruturaj Gaikwad in the same over during their IPL encounter.
For RCB, only captain Rajat Patidar was able to notch up a half-century, while CSK’s Noor Ahmad took three wickets, including those of Virat Kohli and Phil Salt. The match has already featured a brilliant moment from MS Dhoni, who executed another lightning-fast stumping to remove Phil Salt.
