Every year several movies make it to the big screen; however only a few of them find a place in the audiences hearts. As a result those movies rake in money at the box office. Today we will talk about a film that has become one of the fastest movies to enter the Rs 100 crore club. Released on March 27 this film has grossed Rs 100 crore at the box office and if this continues the movie has the potential to break records.
If you are wondering which film we are talking about it is L2: Empuraan a sequel to 2019s Lucifer.
Helmed by Prithviraj Sukumaran the movie features Mohanlal Caroline Koziol Prithviraj Sukumaran and Tovino Thomas. Additionally the film also stars Manju Warrier Indrajith Sukumaran Saniya Iyappan and Arjun Das. It also features Game of Thrones actor Jerome Flynn.
As the film grossed over Rs 100 crore at the box office it became the “biggest opening ever” for a Malayalam movie. The previous record for the biggest opener was held by Mohanlals Marakkar which grossed Rs 20 crore worldwide.
According to Sacnilk Mohanlals movie did a business of Rs 68 crore on the first day at the worldwide box office making it the biggest opening weekend for a Malayalam title globally. Out of this the film collected Rs 21 crore as net earnings at the Indian box office.
Meanwhile on day 2 of L2: Empuraan the film witnessed a slight dip as it earned Rs 11.75 crore in all languages as per the data shared by Sacnilk.
While the movie earned Rs 10.75 crore in its home language Malayalam it minted Rs 40 lakh in Hindi. On the other hand in Kannada L2: Empuraan earned Rs 3 lakh and in Telugu the movie collected Rs 27 lakh. Finally in Tamil the film earned Rs 30 lakh.
Despite a slow start on day 2 Mohanlal and Prithviraj Sukumarans movie has entered the Rs 100 crore club surpassing films like Sunny Deols Gadar 2 Shraddha Kapoors Stree 2 and Kartik Aaryans Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3.
