India’s Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed a closure report in the case of Sushant Singh Rajput’s death. The report states that no murder evidence was discovered. AIIMS’ forensic examination also found that the actor had committed suicide on June 14, 2020. The conclusions excluded any foul play.
Rajya Sabha member and owner of Zee TV, Subhash Chandra, was the one who referred to the role of media in the case. He publicly apologized for how Rhea Chakraborty was made to look. On X (formerly Twitter), he said that the case was shut down because there was no credible evidence. He reiterated that there was no case.
He accepted that Rhea was targeted in an unfair manner by the media. He explained that Zee News contributed to creating that perception. Other media houses followed its suit. As a mentor to Zee News, he encouraged the channel to apologize for its error. He also asked other media houses to apologize. While he was not directly involved, he personally apologized to Rhea.
The CBI probe was after Sushant’s father made allegations against Rhea. She was the girlfriend of the late actor at that time. Both parties accused one another. After over four years of investigation, no proof was discovered that anyone compelled Sushant to commit suicide. Rhea and her family were cleared.
All the people mentioned in the two FIRs, including Rhea and her family members, were declared innocent. Celebrities such as Dia Mirza and Kubbra Sait condemned the aggressive media coverage. They called for accountability and asked for an apology to Rhea. The closure of the case puts an end to years of speculation. It also emphasizes the need for ethical journalism and responsible reporting.
