New Delhi: The tension between Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) is deepening with the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. The team management has clearly indicated that if HCA's attitude does not change, they can consider changing their home ground. The main reason for the dispute is the sale of tickets and the allocation of VIP box.
The manager of Sunrisers Hyderabad wrote a letter to HCA Treasurer CJ Srinivas, in which the team management accused the association of improper intervention and pressure. In the letter, HCA President Jagan Mohan Rao was also targeted. According to media reports, SRH has claimed that the dispute has been going on since 2024. Recently, the controversy increased during the match between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium on 27 March. SRH says that the franchise has contracted with several stakeholders, under which they have to distribute 3,900 tickets. According to the rules, 50 tickets for the VIP box are allocated to HCA, but the association demanded an additional 20 tickets, which was rejected by the franchise. The HCA officials then captured the VIP box.
The SRH management alleges that the team staff were repeatedly threatened by the HCA president and pressurizing the issue of free tickets. The team management clarified that if such behavior continues, they would be forced to change their home ground and will complain about this entire matter to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). At the moment, an official statement from both sides about this dispute is awaited. Read also: RR vs CSK: Rana's storm created furore, Chennai got a tough challenge of 183 runs!
