Google has issued a serious security warning for Android users, urging them to keep their devices updated. Despite AI-powered threat detection removing over 2.36 million malicious apps from the Play Store, security breaches continue to rise.
According to Forbes, Google removed hundreds of malicious apps in February after security researchers discovered adware and malware threats affecting Android devices.
However, the real danger comes from apps installed from external sources (APK downloads outside Play Store). Google emphasized that bypassing security measures through third-party sources is far more dangerous than the Play Store’s security risks.
🔹 What is PJobRAT?
PJobRAT is a stealthy malware that infects Android devices and steals personal data, including:
✅ SMS messages
✅ Call logs
✅ Contacts
✅ Documents & media files
✅ App data
🔹 How Does It Spread?
This malware disguises itself as a legitimate app and is often downloaded outside the Play Store. Once installed, it silently monitors user activity and sends stolen data to hackers.
✅ Always Update Your Android OS & Security Patches
Google releases frequent security updates to patch vulnerabilities.
✅ Download Apps ONLY from the Play Store
Avoid installing APK files from unverified sources.
✅ Check App Permissions Before Installing
Be cautious if an app requests unnecessary access to files, calls, or messages.
✅ Use a Trusted Mobile Security App
Enable Google Play Protect and consider using a reliable antivirus app.
✅ Regularly Review Installed Apps
Uninstall any suspicious or unfamiliar apps.
Google is continuously enhancing its AI-powered threat detection, but Android users must also stay alert and follow best security practices.
