Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The final draft of Sugam Parivahan Sewa to bring back the government bus services to the state was discussed on Monday. The final draft was presented before Chief Minister Mohan Yadav.

The proposal for setting up a company to operate the bus services will be put up before the cabinet on Tuesday.

Urban Development Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya, who virtually took part in the meeting, said the municipal corporations should be kept away from any burden because of the bus services.

The company, being set up to run the buses and do other work, should operate the buses, he said.

Vijayvargiya urged concessions in fare

Vijayvargiya also said the passengers should be given some concessions in fare on some special occasions.

Nevertheless, if the contracts are signed with the private parties to run the buses, it will be hardly possible to give any kind concession to the public, he said.

Panchayat and Rural Development Minister Prahlad Patel said the buses should be operated in far-flung areas, too.

The ministers were told that a holding company would do all the work and that the buses would be run in all areas on the basis of surveys.

Yadav said the transport services would be improved in all rural, city and intercity areas. After seeing the presentation, Yadav gave his consent for the draft.

Secretary to the transport department Manish Singh provided information about the new transport service scheme.

There will be a three-tier monitoring for running the buses under the new transportation scheme, he said. A holding company will be set up at the state headquarters, he said.

Parivahan Samitis will be formed in all the districts

Seven regional sub-companies will also be formed to run the buses in seven major divisions – Bhopal, Indore, Jabalpur, Gwalior, Ujjain, Sagar and Rewa.

To meet the purpose, Parivahan Samitis will be formed in all the districts.

Special arrangements will be made for the source of income for the seven regional sub-companies.

The government will give permits on the priority to the buses for which contract has been signed under the new scheme. The buses will be under the government control.

An app will be introduced for the passengers

There will be an app for passengers and the bus operators besides a dashboard to monitor the firm.

Surveys to determine the need and the required number of buses are underway in seven major divisions.

The outcome of the surveys, on which the government will carry out its plan to operate buses, will be received soon.
