One of the few riders who originally fitted slick tyres for the start of the MotoGP GP of the Americas was Brad Binder (Red Bull KTM).

These ultimately turned out to be the right choice, but the rider couldn’t take advantage of his correct decision due to the race start being suspended after several others rushed into the pits at the last moment to switch to bikes with slicks.

The South African commented: 'It was a freaking mess on the start. I don’t quite know what the hell was going on, but I can’t complain - I made the good decision, so I had the slicks on. Had the race gone ahead, I think it would have been pretty decent. But it is what it is, sh*t happens'.

Although he was disadvantaged by the suspension and restart of the starting procedure, Binder believes it may have been the best decision given the circumstances:

- Obviously I wasn’t too stoked about the decision to pull everyone off, neither was my crew. It is what it is at the end of the day. sh*t happens. Probably it was a good call. It was safer for everybody at the end of the day.
