South 24 Parganas: According to Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Suvendu Adhikari, a purported explosion in Patharpratima in the South 24 Parganas district of West Bengal resulted in up to six fatalities and several injuries on Tuesday.
“Devastating news from Patharpratima, South 24 Parganas district people have died and several are injured after another explosion in a Crude Bomb manufacturing unit,” Adikhari said on X.
Four persons were killed in another incident in Patharpratima on February 4, according to the opposition leader in the West Bengal Legislative Assembly.
“This tragedy occurred less than two months after an explosion in Kalyani on February 7, 2025, which claimed four valuable lives. Patharpratima, South 24 Parganas district, this time. The list becomes lengthy and includes Bhupatinagar, Egra, Budge Budge, and Kalyani. Before significant action is taken, how many more tragedies will occur? “The State of West Bengal is sitting on a pile of crude bombs, and the DGP @WBPolice needs to explain why,” he said.
The leader said that within a week, people will move on and that Rs 2 lakhs would be provided for the victims’ next of kin.
“It’s likely that Rs. 2 lakhs will be declared for the victims’ next of kin tomorrow, and a week later, people will forget about this occurrence until the next catastrophe occurs. No responsibility at all for such occurrences in WB. Adhikari said that Mamata Banerjee, the ineffective Police Minister, should be held accountable for allowing this to occur.
In the meanwhile, the state police were on the scene of the reported explosion in Dholahat’s Patharpratima hamlet Friday night.
