fans seem to think Selwyn Patterson (played by Don Warrington) could end up reuniting with Humphrey Goodman (Kris Marshall) in
In heartbreaking scenes aired last week, the Commissioner decided to leave Saint Marie despite being given his job back. However, following his exit, some fans seem to think Selwyn will visit his former colleague Humphrey in the UK.
Humphrey left Saint Marie as the island's lead detective to follow his love, Martha Lloyd (Sally Bretton). The duo then moved to Shipton Abbott in Devon to start a new life together - and fans can now follow their love story in the Death in Paradise spin-off, Beyond Paradise.
Taking to a Facebook fan page, one fan theorised: "If Selwyn is going to see his daughter, could we have an episode of two where he is in Devon?
"Imagine if he became the love interest for a couple of episodes to Martha's mother. Think ut would make for some great Humphrey moments."
Many fans agreed with the suggestion, and one replied, "Loving that idea would be excellent."
"Selwyn the man meeting Selwyn the duck....yes. That would be a memorable episode or two," another stated.
A third added: "It would be worth it just to see his expression when he realises the duck is named after him."
Someone else commented: "Confusion with Selwyn the duck. I love the idea that Selwyn has a testimonial season, it would be very well deserved."
One fan pleaded: "Wow, fantastic idea, scriptwriters please take note of viewers' wishes."
Over the years, fans have seen beloved characters leave and make a return to Saint Marie.
In the first series of Beyond Paradise, Humphrey returned to the Caribbean, where he met his predecessor, Neville Parker (Ralf Little), and the rest of the gang, including the Commissioner.
More recently, DI Jack Mooney (Ardal O'Hanlon) also appeared in the franchises' latest spin-off, Return to Paradise, which is set in Australia with its first female lead detective.
Beyond Paradise returns on Friday at 8pm on BBC One.
