IFS Nidhi Tiwari has been appointed as the personal secretary of PM Modi. She is a 2014 batch officer. She has become the first woman to get such a posting in recent history. Currently, she is working as Deputy Secretary in the Prime Minister's Office (PMO). Her appointment order has been issued by the Department of Personnel. Nidhi Tiwari passed the UPSC Civil Services Examination in 2013 and was selected for the Indian Foreign Service as IFS. Her all India rank in UPSC CSE 2013 was 96. Before joining the Indian Foreign Service, she was working as Assistant Commissioner in Varanasi. She has been working as Deputy Secretary in the PMO since 6 January 2023. Before being appointed to the PMO, she was working as Under Secretary in the Disarmament and International Security Affairs Division in the Ministry of External Affairs.

IFS Nidhi Tiwari is a resident of Mahmoorganj in PM Modi's Lok Sabha constituency Varanasi. According to media reports, she also won the Gold Medal Best Officer Trainee Award during her training in the Foreign Service. As PM Modi's personal secretary, she will now handle PM Modi's daily administrative work, meetings and preparations related to foreign tours, etc.

As the Prime Minister's personal secretary, Nidhi Tiwari will get salary based on Pay Matrix Level-14, which is Rs 1,44,200 per month. Along with this, she will also get additional benefits like dearness allowance, housing allowance and travel allowance, which will make her total monthly salary around Rs 2 lakh. Apart from this, many other facilities will also be available.
